Cuda 1971-74 roof rail weatherstrips
« on: August 19, 2012 - 10:54:42 AM »
Which company weatherstrips are you using on 1971-74 roofrails?

I first bought a set of Metro Supersoft for Cuda 71-74, profile looked same like the old ones, but no way that it is sitting nicely on rail. The other edge is not " locking".
Then I thought that somebody have changed my cars rails to 1970 type, and bought those but profile is different than old ones but actually those attached little better to the rails but not correct anyway.
Is there other good options on market?

Thanks!

I bought my weather stripping too long ago to remember where I got them.

I do remember it taking me about 3 tries until I got it situated just right. They are buggers to put in.

A month and a half ago, I was looking for them also. I tried contacting Soft Seal. At the time, they were back ordered.

FWIW...Metro weatherstrip on the trunk seal were too thick and hard.

I eventually found some on e Bay that were good fitting but no idea what brand they were.
Seller said he bought them years ago and never used them.

I decide to order new set, this time producted by Precision...

At least it was 40 $ expensiver than Supersoft or Soffseal.
I will give my experiences after I try to install it  :violin:

I have the same problem that their is no lip on the inside to lock into the track, nothing to keep them in place. Let us know how the new ones work out, I was going to just glue them in place but will wait to see what you find out.

I tried glue also but then it was very difficult to get it straight on channel and nice look. Maybe Metro had bad quality coming out for a while.

I will let you know for sure, it will just take some time. I am serving in Afghanistan and next home leave at Christmas :)
