Anyone seen these new hemis
« on: August 26, 2012 - 11:45:03 PM »
Ive thinking about a crate hemi for a while and was holding off for the mopar 590 hp aluminum crate

http://www.speedfactorycars.com/speedfactory-cars-sema-wrap-up/

, mopar gave it a part number but as far as I have found never released it and made only one which they put in that redline charger. So I kept browsing once a week and yesterday I see this

http://www.jegs.com/p/Mopar-Performance/Mopar-Gen-III-540HP-426-Hemi-Crate-Engine/1710917/10002/-1

The jegs has the same part numbers

The original Hemi 426 block design will be less cost in the long run and have better Torque/ throw you in the seat.   :2cents:

Carbs make more HP vs FI and you don't have 45 lbs of fuel pressure in your gas lines. There is good reason these newer FI rides blow up more often in a crash vs the older carb cars

And get 9 mpg.  The new hemi will be half the weight and get twice the gas mileage and be much more streetable.

Both are cool in their own right, but it depends on what you want to do with the car.

My plans are to drive this thing a lot, maybe 1/3 of the year in Michigan. I had priced out many big block stroker combos and the price always ended up similar to a new gen hemi. Not that I want to open that discussion. I was just more curious if anyone has any additional info or comments on these, since I didn't hear anything about these before I stumbled upon them at jegs.

Does the Jeg's crate motor come with the wiring harness and computer? You also need to think about the fuel system upgrades for the F.I. that will be required, along with the O2 sensor in the exhaust system. It's all of the little things that add to the expense of going late model conversion. I'm not trying to discourage the conversion. Personally I think it is something I want to do someday. Just have to think it through before you pull the trigger.

Well I already have the fi gas tank and since I was buying all new exhaust it was no price difference. The computer and harness though that's the thing. Since I always wanted an F.I. Big block the price is the same if not cheaper going with new hemi. stil not sure if I am going with a jegs crate motor or if I should start seeing if I can find an engine builder who can do similar hp and tq for less money, even if I have to suffer with an iron block lol

I did a little searching the net and found this site with quite a bit better prices. I think the engines come with the harness. They list the 6.1 as coming with the harness. A phone call would probably answer the question real quick. Here's the 540 HP 6.4 for a 13K.

That's the one I would get. Try shophemi.com you can get a short block or long block and build the rst as funds allow.

That is a great option, I have been looking for this P5156139, same thing with the new apache heads and has 590hp. But that seems to be never available. Plus price is a consideration. I do still have a few months till I need one lol. So I am still able to keep my options open.

Kinda off topic, but Arias is offering a Shelby/Ford 351W Hemi conversion these days.  Stupid power out of a small block configuration;

Just goes to prove, there is nothing that produces power like a Hemi.
