Both are new engines.

My new dream engine puts out 400 HP and gets 40 MPG, if anybody - even BMW makes a turbo 4 banger / trans that does it and the price is right, my 340 is going out and in goes the 4 banger, lol

But back to 2012, a carb engine, maybe a 440 or stroker will cost less and be as powerful and even at 9 mpg it be a longtime for gas savings to pay the extra costs back.

You really believe the new Hemi will get 18 mpg by the way ? I doubt it, if so the 440 would not be getting 9 mpg in the same test, more like 12 - 13 mpg vs `18

The carbed 440 in my truck is pulling down low teens in town and high teens on the highway and that is with a 3spd trans and 4:10 rear gears. I've had it on a chassis dyno and it is putting an honest 300hp to the tires at my altitude. Granted, a new truck, or Charger, or Challenger probably weighs as much or more as my old truck, but there is no reason to think that with the proper build, a new G3 Hemi couldn't get similarly high HP and MPG numbers.

That sir is an abomination

Nah, not really. Ardun was slapping hemi heads on top of Fords way back in the '40s. Don't forget the Cammer and Boss engines from Ford that were from the same coveted era as our Gen 2 Hemi.

$18k and you still need a computer and harness (probably close to $2k).  So, you're talking $20k for 615HP.

I bet, you can get an aluminum World Block 572, dual-quad EFI built for close to $20k (including computer) and will probably be close to streetable 700-750HP.

Probably will weigh somewhat close to the same as these $$$ Gen IIIs.

Sad that you can get crated, all aluminum LS supercharged engines for only $12k, compared to these Hemi:

Gen III F.I. Hemi's are cool but at the same time they almost look like a small block in the engine compartment.
And that just doesn't look right to me to consider it a real "Big Block."

I like the engine compartment overflowing with enormous mass.

Take a look at Hemidog's engine. Now you're talking!   :2thumbs:
F.I. stroked Gen II stroked 426 Hemi.

I saw that engine in person before it was sent out to him. What a monster!

I never said put a Ford in a Mopar. My point was nothing makes power like a Hemi. So much so, that even the competition looks to the Hemi head when they want to make tons of power. I thougth I said that on the previous page.

 :iagree:

Gen IIIs can look pretty good w/some of those cool Indy valve covers on them, but still does not compare to the big mama valve covers of Gen IIs:

There is nothing, nothing more awesome than the site of a big ole hemi under a shaker. It's just not for my needs, and price. I know everyone keeps referring back to the jegs prices I posted. I was more curious about the part numbers being the same as other for more reasonable prices like this. Also the hp# are different but the pn: is the same. I called jegs and they told me this is direct info from mother mopar and may be slightly newer versions.

Since you are in Michigan have you ever contacted Muscle Motors for the price on a motor? Don't know how much they deal in EFI but I know on mine it was cheaper to have them build me a Hemi then buy a create, and you get exactly what you want.

Thanks for the reminder, i just called them, their genIII hemi guy is out right now, but they said they are just getting into building the new hemi and are going to call me when their ecialist gets back in. They were actually the guys I was planning on using when I had wanted a 400 stroker.

Something is a little sketchy.  The power & torque lines don't cross at 5200 rpm...
mmmmm.... Mopar.... *drool*
