« on: August 28, 2012 - 12:42:15 PM »
Hello everyone l was wondering if any one can help with the location of where  on the rear frame rails do the
sway bar brackets go, l was hoping there is a measurement or picture that someone could help with  for my 70 Challenger l would think
it would be the same as a T/A or AAR Cuda any help would be great .  :working:

if the frame is clean you should see dimples in the frame for the bolt holes

If you dont have the dimples it is exactly 10 inches diaganal from where the frame starts to bent up a ruler will put you on.

:iagree:  I was trying to find a picture of this that someone posted in the past. On my 1970 Challenger, there were no dimples, but the 10" dimension is right.  The U shaped bracket is tapered, and should just about position itself.

Early E-bodies wouldn't have had any dimples in the frame.  T/A's and AAR's(as well as everything after) should have them.

With the end links connected, you can just rotate the bar up to the frame rails.  The brackets are tapered and should fall into the correct spot.

here's the thing ...l looking at the driver side frame. And when l measure up 10 ..l have a ....l would say 3/16 to 1/4 hole their
which l am pretty sure was for ..... lets say ( s ) clip and it holds the brake line. unless l am holding the tape at the wrong staring point.
Thanks

Yeah my brake line mount was in that area too for the 318, but when i switched over to the 440 got new brake lines it sat higher, the 1st angle in the frame rail, there are two angles.  The 1st angle is the one to measure off of for the 10" the sway bar will want to go there when you have everything hooked up and pressed onto the rail..

the brackets & rails are slightly tapered so they will only slide up so far

The mounting hole possition was probably all over the map from the factory.  Slide the bar up until the brackets are snug and mark your holes. :2cents:

l just taped up the rails to protect them. And tried to slide brackets up which works great ...... But what l don't like is it covers the hole for the brake line clip.... it just don't seem correct  :clueless:

My car had a factory rear bar.  It does cover one of the brake line clip holes on the drivers side.  The brake line clip hole is right between the two swaybar bracket holes.
