I have a dumb question because I believe I already know the answer but does the lower flat piece of the front window trim get a gasket before mating with the body? I know it leverages a couple of bolts from the windshield wiper mechanism.

If anyone has a pic of the lower trim piece with the hood up that would be awesome!

No gasket. It uses two wiper bolts like you said. Then the factory put a few blobs of sealer under it to hold it tight on the top side. The corner pieces need some strip caulk around the attaching screws so you don't get a leak.

Perfect! Now I need to know if the corner pieces are bolted to the car with machine screws?

I see no holes so I guess I'll have to make them...

Mine are held on with chrome philips head screws. They have a built-in washer on them. There are slots where the screws attach...it isn't just a small hole. That's why you need some strip caulk around the screw. Water will leak in through the slot if it isn't sealed up.

The corner pieces are just held on with a screw into the cowl. It doesn't screw into a hole...it screws into a slot. Just like how the inside rear window trim screws are thread into slotts...not holes.

As you can see from the pic I don't see any slots in this area to put a screw through. Hmmm it's a new firewall so it may not have them?

Originally, there would have been a slot dirrectly under the trim hole. The slot allows for some production tolerance stack-up. If the cowl is new then it could be missing the slot.

Hmm well unless I want to remove the front fender and drill a slot I'm sh*t out of luck.

Any ideas?

Stick a pick through the trim hole when it's in the correct location and mark the spot to drill. It looks like you have plenty of room.

To get a straight up and down hole it will br close to the fender but doable.
