Better make sure you get that 6060 because that one is not from a Challenger it could be a ford tr6060. :dunno:

I have a couple TR6060's from wrecked Challengers that I am using. The 6060 in the eBay listing is from one of the other OEM applications (Chevy, or Ford), but the shifter should work on any TR6060 since it just bolts into the port from the top instead of the factory remote installation. I will let everyone know if it does not work.

Yes, he is going to offer a kit with everything except pedals.  We are almost done with the upper cross brace.  As soon as it's finished I'll post pics up and relay the info.

The upper cross brace didn't come out as well as I'd hoped.  :( I'm having to modify it quite a bit to both be strong enough and fit the car.  This really turned into a big setback.  I've lost many months of progress due to this upper cross brace situation. :banghead:

Curious on the crossmember as well or any other T56 mag to 3G Hemi info.

For those with a T56 behind a 3G, do you happen to have a parts shopping list I could reference?

Putting the T56 Magnum should not be an issue.  Since my involvement with Hurst has ended, I'm going to put together a list of where you ALL can get this required items for the swap.  This is not rocket science, but you have to stay within the lines.  Going outside with require more adapting.

To address the bell housing issue here.
Small Block Mopar (LA) and 3G HEMI is Quick Time P/N RM8074.  The bell has a 6.697” bell depth (add .125 for the block plate for total depth) Uses the standard 2-Bolt starter from Mopar. 130 tooth fly wheel must be used.
The top hole of the bell housing will not be used.  The starter is located on the drivers side of the engine for retrofitting purposes.
Some of the very first quick time bell housing that allow the retrofitting of the T56 Viper Spec. transmission in our cars featured smooth, un-machined mounting faces.  When Tremec introduced the T56 Magnum, which is the TR6060 in hot rodder's (aftermarket form) a rib on the face of the transmission mounting it to the bell housing was not machined off from the factory.  The rib remained, which made Ross re-machine some bell housing to clearance this rib.   This was 2009 / 2010 time frame and I would assume that these are out of the system by now.  If you have an 8074 Bell Housing it may be worth snapping a photo of the mounting face and sending it to Quick Time for verification.

Time to get to work on the details for you guys.  At the moment, only American Powertrain will get you about 90% of the way to a complete kit.

Remember - Cutting is required on the E-Bodies.  If you are a fan of your virgin sheet metal - step back and look at the TKO kits from the various suppliers or Jamie Passon's 5 speed.  Overdrive is SO NICE.

Bumping an old thread

So has anyone put a TR6060 in an E-body? The driveshaft and speedo-out doesn't really bother me too much, there are GPS speedometer interfaces that will run an electronic speedo.

My main concern is the shifter location, and IF it can be ran in an E-body [comfortably] or not. Buying a brand new T56 Magnum would sure put a dent in the budget over a plucked TR6060 from a Challenger.

Yes the firewall tunnel area needs to be larger to fit the much larger bell housing the 6060 uses. The shifter location is pretty close to the magnum location only you need to use a ford / viper t 56 shifter with the square mounting pad instead of the magnums rectangle shaped shifter mount. Not the remote mounted shifter that the late model challengers use. And it's still in the center of the trans tunnel instead of on the drivers side.

Do you have any pictures of your shifter location you can share? You have a t56, correct? If so, what is the trans out of?

I've read the viper t56 is too far forward and the Challenger tr6060 shifter is too far back. No numbers though. Could be inches or miles apart! I generally sit pretty far up in the car, so I wouldn't expect it to be much of an issue. I would also be looking at a kick over on the shifter to make it favor the driver.

Let me get out of this mess at work and I'll forward the information that I have from Tremec to you. I received your PM on Pro-Touring - I'm just swamped at the moment.
