non rally tach

Does anyone know of a tach that would fit the clock pod in a non rally dash.  Othe than the mopar tach for non rally gauges(BIG bucks).  The clock delete "bezel" measures about 2 3/4 inches in diameter.

Also if you get it from Year One, it will cost a little more but they have a "No questions asked" return policy.

This is just my humble opinion, but if you have a non-rallye dash E-body, with an auto transmission like I do, This is the only Tachometer to use.  Most people that see it think it was factory installed.

Would it be possible to install the tach to where the fuel gauge is and install the fuel gauge to the far right.

Because of the way the actual frame work of the gauge cluster is cast, the tach will only fit in the far right position.

I would love to have shifted everything one space to the right and put the tach next to the speedometer.

I soppose anything is possible.  You can see in this picture of my spare cluster that the place for the clock is the only location that is just a hole.

You could build a backing frame for the fuel gauge and cut out the back where the fuel gauge was for the tach.

Kind of a "work vs. reward" question.

I would prefer the tach be in the place where the fuel gauge is. Somebody out there with alot of time on his hands could modify one of these housings & shift them over. I don't know if this could be welded up either but hey anything is possible. I guess its anyone choice if they place it in the clock space or modify their dash housing & go from there. Either way, I like the clock better, but that tach is way-cool too!

Yeah, that's the setup that I used to have.  It looks and works just fine.  I know that the ideal place for the tach is right next to the speedometer, but in front of the clock position works too.  It is centered on the car and I think you can keep a better eye on the road infront of you when you have it hammered.  It is also outside of the steering wheel so you don't have to keep looking through the steering wheel to try to see it.

I wanted my dash to look more original so this tach was a no-brainer.  I was already used to looking in that location for tach info, and it looks as good a factory.

This is what my dash looked like in high school.

That's exactly where I'm thinking about putting my tach.  It really depends if I go for a seriously original look or just a period correct look like I'm doing on the Roadrunner.  I've got an old 70's Mopar tach that should look like it belongs.  Its still a shame its so difficult to move the gauges around in the standard dash, I'd definitely like the tach next to the speedometer.
