Wierd, I think for new cars it's $695 or so?  I wonder if it's the same unit?  For $295 it some good peace of mind.  :grinyes:  Along with securing you car with a locked garage, kill switches, 10 foot tall fence, removing the wheels, chaining the car to the garge floor and the 200lb Rotweiler...  :smilielol:

But seriously, looks like a good price...

I spoke to Scott at Lojack.  See the flier below.

I'm pretty sure I'll have this installed.  I'm just trying to decide if I want to extend the warranty from 2 years to 7 years, and if I want to opt for the early warning for $300.

But, if anyone else calls Scott, signs up and mentioned that I (Rick) referred them, they send me a $25 VISA card.  My thought is that I would donate any of those referral cards to Jackie, to assist in her recovery.  It would go for a good cause, and this seems like a great price for piece of mind.

When I look at that page it shows me a price of $695.

I also don't see any sort of option to not have them install it.

I re-posted my flier.  Forgot that it had my address on it.  No need to make it easy for someone looking for a car.

I'm told that they have select installers that are familiar with classic cars and perform the installation with the owners help and input on where it gets installed.  I still need a bit more info on this.  I want to find out if there are limitations on where it is installed, ie, engine compartment, trunk, under a seat, etc.

Ahh entering the promo code helps :)

CCKAP295

for anyone having trouble reading the flyer :)

I have to search around on the website and see if there is a self install option.  If I can't find it, then it's out.  I hate people.  I don't even like them on my street, much less anywhere near my car.

I wonder if it works only in the USA? ( I'm in Canada) or anywhere in the world? Lots of these cars end up in shipping containers headed for the middle east, etc....?

They list their coverage area here by counties in the US states: https://store.lojack.com/content.aspx?page=CurrentCoverageArea

Might be worth a call to them to see if they currently offer, or plan to offer this in your part of Canada.

I started to worry that if a car gets stolen, and they drive out of the county that it's offered in, are you SOL?  It's only offered in the two southern counties of NH.

The early warning notifies you within 15 minutes if it's been moved with out the appropriate RF tag in proximity.  But someone could be out of my local county in 20 minutes.  And it they head north toward the less populated part of the state, all bets are off.

Looks like is doesn't even cover all of the USA never mind Canada and beyond?  :eek7:

:woohoo:  Covers all of Massachusetts.  I don't know if that's good or means your car isn't safe anywhere in Massachusetts...  :bricks1:

Hi everyone, first off let me start by saying I work for LoJack. I have it on my personal car and believe in the product. LoJack claims a 90% success rate and I believe this to be 100% accurate. Furthermore, LoJack has achieved over 300,000 recoveries and has been installed over 8 million times worldwide.

Just to answer some questions, LoJack has a licensee in Canada for those interested, check out: http://www.lojack.ca/ Also to answer a couple more questions, the LoJack For Classics Product is typically $695, however with the coupon code its $400 off.

And no the Classics product is not the same product as the standard LoJack. Being it so that Classics have unique and sometimes fragile electrical systems, the LJ for Classics product is 100% self powered, no tie in to the vehicles electrical systems. Also the installers, take special care to work with the owner on the covert placement of the unit and to also take special care with the vehicle when installing it on the vehicle, many of which are priceless.

If anyone needs a guaranteed working coupon code, or has further questions, please feel free to send me a personal email at jaleman (a) lojack.com and i'll help you out Thanks.

Jason,

Thanks for the info.

I had a few questions.

Since these are self powered, how long does the battery last?

Is the battery replaceable?

How can we be sure it is still working?

What is the range?

I assume the device must have a somewhat unobstructed view outside the vehicle.

For the early warning option:

If we live next to county without coverage and the bad guys can make it that far in 15 minutes, what are the chances of recovery?

I don't / can't always have my cell phone on me.  Can the early warning option make notification to multiple #'s?

Thanks for the info.

Jason,

Thanks for the info.

I had a few questions.

Since these are self powered, how long does the battery last?  We warranty the battery for 2 years. After that a warranty can be extended by the customer.  We’ve had recoveries in which the LoJack System was installed more than 20 years ago.  Here’s one recent story: http://www.autotheftblog.com/2012/08/22/customer-success-story-lojack-stolen-vehicle-recovery-system-helps-recover-vehicle-14-years-after-its-installation/

Is the battery replaceable? No, just the unit, see above.

How can we be sure it is still working?  You can schedule an inspection with LoJack to verify its functionality.

What is the range? A LoJack-equipped police vehicle can pick up a LoJack signal from a vehicle 3-5 miles on the ground and more than 10 miles in the air with their helicopters or air units.

I assume the device must have a somewhat unobstructed view outside the vehicle. No. This is the benefit of our RF (radio frequency) based system vs. other technologies. LoJack works to recover stolen cars even if the car is taken by thieves to places like garages, parking structures, shipping containers, deep woods, etc.

For the early warning option:

If we live next to county without coverage and the bad guys can make it that far in 15 minutes, what are the chances of recovery? This is where LoJack Early Warning comes in handy, however, it’s important to note that we have successfully recovered 90% of stolen cars, trucks and SUVs.  We also have LoJack law enforcement liaisons in each state where we do business whose job is to work with police to recover stolen vehicles. Finally, if your car is stolen and not recovered within 24 hours, you get your money back for your LoJack purchase. We’ve had recoveries in which a car was stolen in California and found in Florida, undamaged.

I don't / can't always have my cell phone on me.  Can the early warning option make notification to multiple #'s? Yes, up to 5 numbers and email.

Thanks for the info.

spamtank, I answered your questions above, if anyone has any further questions please give our rep Scott a call at the number above on the post card, yes its a working number and he is at his desk today or alternatively my email is above. Thank you.

Jason

What kind of battery chemistry is used? Is it Nimh, li-on, ????

Once the two years are up, do you just swap out the battery or what?
