With sadness, I have to disagree. A lightweight, high performing V8 retro Cuda is what we, the c-c members want. Most of the buying public couldn't care less, though. They will think of a little tin box Cuda as a car with a great name, never realizing what it might have been.
Dave, I do agree with what you have said. But the thing I don't like is if the autoblog article is true, the Cuda will be out of reach of the common guy being an SRT8 replacement, if that article holds true. I'm all for a light nimble car with V8 power. I actually will prefer a car with less power that can handle vs a straightline car. Much more versatile/safer car IMO.
If I'm not mistaken, the Barracuda/Cuda back in the 70's was priced less than the Challenger. If slated to be an SRT8 car, my guess is that it'll cost $40k plus, which will turn me off. Make it a $25k-$30k car, then I say Bingo, good seller.
It all depende what they are looking for. Volume or halo car status.
I'm glad they are using a new platform. Retro can only go so far. Even the Mustang is stepping far away from the retro design for 2014.
If the Camaro stays the way it is after 2014, it'll look like a used car sitting in the new car line up at the dealership, IMO.
