I just ordered and received in less than a week a new tach board and regulator from RT/Eng.. In process of installing now. Seems simple enough. Got the tach apart. Just need a new head for my solder gun to be able to put it back together. I did the quartz clock conversion too. Pretty easy accept peening those damn rivets over. Used epoxy instead

I sent mine to a guy calling himself the tachman. Dirty fingerprints all over the clock face. Tach failed immediately so I gave up and DIY  with the R/T eng tack unit. It worked well until I installed the FBO ignition which caused the tach to read high at idle. I read it is because the multiple spark pulses or some thing like that in certain ignition designs. R/T offered to replace the board I just haven't been motivated to pull down the dash again.

Wow, I had just boxed mine up for shipment to him. You saved me sir

Please BEWARE of the Tachman, guy is a total nightmare!  Huge warning sign is the fact that he doesn't accept credit cards.  Don't get ripped off like I did.

I talked to Tachman on the phone and he had a really short fuse when I asked questions.

Like on if he had the kits in stock.
Then asked if he would sell those outright.
Then he went Agro on me.

Not mentally stable.  :2cents:

Installed Tach board with 4speedfish helping.
Took it to Hayward Auto Instruments to check it out.

Nothing!...They sent it to their other place to double check it out. Still nothing!
Is there some trick to these before finishing/after install? Would like to fix it.

Being frustrated with the whole ordeal, I bought a repro tach on E Bay for a couple hundred today.
Still would like to know why it doesn't work. There must be some trick or tweaking to it to get her moving.

So it appears I did it right...almost.

Hi Mike,

Just so you know when unpackaged the the tachometer that you say does
not work, I took the back off and tested the tach on my tester and the
tach functioned
ok. Maybe one of the posts was grounding to the can. tach will be
rebuilt anyways and tested fully assembled.

When you say not close,

Appearance or accuracy?

Appearance.

Needle wrong color, RPM should be R.P.M.
Font is wrong also.

Who did you end up getting your kit from and how is it working?

Got the Hemi fired up for the first time yesterday and I am suspect to the how acurate my tach is. I think idle it close, might my a little high. But when you rev it hard the needle swings all the way up to 8000 like it is just the momentum of the needle going up that makes it travel past the actual RPM. I only ran it for maybe 5 miuntes so lots of testing to do yet, will try hooking up anther tach to test it against. Also anong with this the oil pressure gauges seems to maybe read low, it only comes up to maybe 1/4 way and is slow to get their. Again I will hook up a mechanical one to test against. Both of these are original gauges with no mods done to them.
