Wonder what the holdup is?  I hope he hasn't over extended himself? Looks like a great and sorely needed part! It's been dragging on for years now?  If this was available when I was needing a tranny I would have seriously looked at it. I just couldn't wait anymore?

If you have the 18 spline clutch at present it is simply a 2 hour job to change this no other parts required. That is a great offering at the price.
Will it be available as 18 spline version only?
What will be required when converting from 23 spline version?

You just need to purchase an 18 spline clutch disk, no other changes needed.

I wonder if Jamies price will includes the cost of shifter rods, tabs and linkage?  If not you will have additional cost for those.

You also need the $Hemi$ throw out bearing. Everything is included in Jaimie's pkg - rods, tabs, shifter. All you need to supply is the actual Hurst lever and when you purchase they ask clamp in or bolt in type lever. Did not know there was two types.
This box has some nice features such as the use of taper roller bearings and special design synchros. Makes for a quiet, strong and smooth shifting unit. I doubt if the price will ever be below current pricing as the interest is growing according to Jaimie's latest post on Moparts.

On a related note, after looking through the Passon site, they also have a "hemi" 4sp overdrive kit for about $1800 or $3000 for the whole unit. The a855 is a .70 od, and this conversion kit is a .80 od.
Anyone have any input or advice about this conversion kit...pros and cons?
How easy is it to rebuild these units with the kit?
Thanks.

There's a thread on the Passon OD 4 pseed here: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=78305

A few forum members own it and love it. I'll be going that route when money permits. It's basically the same ratio as my current 727, which I'm completely fine with for my intended use - but it also gives me an overdrive for the freeway. That's a win.

This site is great.
So this 4sp OD can be a reality in my car for about half the price of a whole new 5sp. Sounds like a real option to me, especially since it is already available. I dont race my car, and I am in the habit of shifting straight from 1st to 3rd, for two reasons:
First, second seems like wasted effort, since the gears are so close, you need to shift again about 1 second later. Also, my 2nd gear synchro is a little worn- so I sometimes miss the shift or have to baby it in (maybe one time every four or 5 shifts).
I never want to drive on the highway because a true 60mph is about 4000 rpm. Nerve racking after a while. With the .80 od that drops to 3200 rpm, which is a HUGE difference. The .70od @2800 rpm would be better still, but maybe not for another $2000

Anyone know what Passon charges to install the kit if I ship them my tranny, and I guess they will send me back the old gears if I want them back? Might as well hold on to them. You never know.

PS and correct me if I am wrong but I see nos 18 spline TO bearings on ebay for about $100. Clutch kits are $300 for the ram brand which is what I am running now.

Are you sure 60 is 4000 RPM?? You have 3.54's according to your sig which would mean REALLY small tires..I'm running 15" rims with 4.10's and my RPM at 60MPH is lower than that

I dont think its the tach. Seems right since I tested it against a multimeter, plus I have an msd with the tach adaptor, but it isnt right on. In fact, its off by a few hundred rpm because one time I drive 70mph indicated it may read 4000rpm, and another time it might read 4300.
Not that it matters, but I do know at about 70 indicated I am really doing about 60mph. I guess wrong speedo gear for my wheels, which is something else I would try to correct if I do any tranny work.

PS
so as not to hijack here I will search, but....my butt/ear tach is way too high at 60-70mph regardless.

The speedo gear swap is really easy....just 1 bolt, swap the gear in and index the housing.

I was on the Passon's website today and the A855 was advertised as finally available. Anyone out there actualy holding the A855 in his/her hands already? Or maybe even installed and driving it.
