Tach wire where it comes out thru the firewall
« on: September 16, 2012 - 11:27:12 PM »
What I recall is that if you had the Rallye gauge option then you couldn't get the manual foot pump winshield washer.

The factory used a rubber plug with a wire going thru it.
Then it clipped onto the edge of the wire harness bulkhead on the engine side with a special plastic clip.

Can anyone proviide any info on this?

I'm looking for a reproduction of it if possible.
Mike, Fremont, CA.

The tach wire on my Challenger run through a hole just below and to the passengers side of the brake booster.

Mike-
on our '70, the tach wire goes thru the bulkhead connector--#20 hole. I'm presuming the '71 is the same.

If that's the case, what the heck do I have? I know it's OEM. I grabbed stuff like crazy back in the day.

And if mine is going thru the bulkhead, then where do I get that plug block off for the manual washer?

I agree with FY1Cuda, the tach wire should be part of the bulkhead connector. That's the way mine is, (71 Challenger). What is your car, (model, year). Some wires that runs through plugs are: 1) Reverse light (manual only), 2)clutch switch, (manual only), and 3)Road lamps, (Cuda only) Look at that pic below, it might help.
