So are you doing any winter builds?
« on: September 18, 2012 - 06:39:45 PM »
Me I never stop doing something. Monday I was in an emergency room in columbia tn getting morphine and steroids, today im home setting valves getting ready to fire up my 511. Looking for 850 hp or so.  I just picked up a new mega block and indy top end for my winter project. Unless someone needs it more than me...haha.  seems like parts fly through this shop like lightening.  Sunday I was in Rochester NY working at Kodak all last week.  Anyone ever see a hundred tons of pure silver?  I was repairing their roaster drum.  1800 degrees. 300 where I was standing. Quite warm.

what's your winter plans?  body, electrical or suspension?

Well, I have electrical issues that I made cheap fixes on.   :misbehaving:

I would finally like to have things right.

I finally got my Challenger running after sitting 8 months while I fixed everybody else's cars. Family first, hobbies later. My daughter blew her car up, them momma's car went on the fritz.  :bricks1: So my winter won't be much in the way of Mopars, I'll be in the woods hunting. I hunt muzzleloaders (black powder) and then rifle/shotgun during regular deer season. Next year I think I'll get back into bow hunting!!  :bananasmi So Al, what the heck did you do to yourself that you needed morphine? I hope you are taking care of your back after that surgery! Do you still have an understudy that you are training? I know you mentioned that the other guy didn't work out. All that traveling has got to be tough. You'll have to make a video Al when you fire up that motor. Did you finish Don's engine??  :clueless:

I hope to rebuild the front suspension on my cuda this winter HOPE beign the operative word.

I would also like to dearch the rear springs and lower the car down abit.

Oh and rebuild the steering column and a few other small items.

As much as I love working on it, I am just not sure how much I will do this winter. :dunno:

I can not wait until I have a bigger garage and have the space for a true project car...I woudl love to have one to drive and one to work on. :cooldancing:

I would like to make a camshaft change this winter on this engine and would like to build another just race engine(W2,high compression, ect)

Mat, even 30 yr olds tell me i'm hard to keep up with.  I do long hrs and always on the move.  Help comes and goes, but they usually watch me and fetch tools.  don's car has been running for months now. I do a few start ups in my garge with it. Building him a dana now, and also putting on a 6pk hood for him. Plus re wiring all the car. It had a few issues.  Runs great though. as far as me?  I have to get a liquid injected tune up once in a while, my body won't keep up with my heart. I pulled a muscle and pinched a nerve in my back Sunday. the wife drove up to Tennessee to give me a ride to the er. My left foot and leg went numb after doing something  hahahaha.

So Doug, was the wow factor holding you back from power?  There are some wicked small blocks out on the market now adays. You may have to beef up everything behind that crankshaft.

De arching springs?  Don't like the ole buggy bouncing rake factor huh? a one to 2 inch rake makes an e body look good.

MEK  are all your wires red?  Be careful :roflsmiley:

I got 8 more valves to set tonight, then eat lunch/supper, and maybe crank it up tomorrow.  i gotta get my car running, other members have other jobs for me to do and I have 3 in here now.

my winter project may be a 69 airgrabber 4 speed road runner. I may buy it off my friend. I'm thinking 540/572 in it, but street driven. Nothing to serious. All under 750 hp

welp, shafts are tq'ed and the valves are set. I may be able to start this car up tomorrow. Install plugs, spark plug wires flush out fuel , set fuel reg, little things. But I have like 4 or 5 things I have to do around my place before I can get back on it. :faint:

I am removing a 383 from a 67 barracuda that I kind of purchased/inherited.
I'll have to rebuild the bottom end I think.
Then I have to change the jetting as it was used last with ethanol.
Has a TCI Tranny that leaks terribly.  Have to fix that.

Also, just removed a broken 350 BB from my 70 bird.
Have another one just about ready to install.

yep, I have some fundage set aside to put a decent motor together and purchase the few remaining interior parts to get my car out of the garage. kinda nice since the winter weather here is pretty good for driving. I am shooting to get my car driving by Christmas.

For me summer projects are just beginning, but I'm still trying to get the engine to run after I decided to ride the beast of re-wiring the car by myself. 8 months in the making, the spark plugs spark and the starter motor turns the engine at the right speed and fuel is getting in through the carbs, could I at least have a backfire!

Well i got plenty to keep me busy on both the Cuda and my Dart this winter and with any luck we'll get lots of snow so i can make extra money to do it all.
