Aftermarket oil pressure gauge line routing through firewall
« on: September 20, 2012 - 08:09:51 AM »
I'm going to run mechanical oil pressure and electric temperature gauges on my 71 R/T Challenger along with the factory gauges, at least until I can determine if the factory gauges work and are fairly accurate.

So where is a good place to run my plastic oil pressure line and my electric temperature gauge wire through the firewall without drilling any new holes?

Thanks.

There should be a rubber plug where the 4 spd clutch rod would come through or the foot washer pump. Around the brake booster. I would use that some times. Or out the side of the speedo grommet plug.

The car is a 4 speed so I can't run anything through where the clutch rod goes.

I was thinking of the speedo cable grommet and I do believe there is another plug over by the master cylinder(manual brakes)  but I'm not sure if my oil pressure gauge line is long enough.

don't use a plastic line unless youy like hot oil showers !!
I always use copper .
There is a large rubber plug near the hood hinge on the left side or sneak it through the speedo cable grommet

mine goes thru the fire wall just to the right of the throttle cable.viewing from inside the car.using an existing hole.appx 1" diameter..used a factory rubber plug modded for thru hose access,,,steel braid line for the oil pressure gauge..u can get various lenghts from summit for the guage like i did,,something flexible but not delicate like plastic..

You could also use the holes where the grommets hold the firewall insulation. Just drill thru the grommet the size of your wire and oil line.
