Hi guys,

I am looking at the below car and am wondering if it looks like a genuine Cuda.

I have had Mopars in Australia since I was 15, but have never had anything from the States so I need some advice on where I need to look for problems.

The Vin# posted represents a 1973 340 Cuda Verify Fender tag, the Cowl numbers, and the radiator support match also.

It looks pretty clean on the inside and outside. However, they didn't show any pictures of the underside of the car. Look for rust in the wheel wells, frame rails, and any signs of structural damage. Also look closely for signs of bubbling (rust bubbles) under the paint.

Pics are too small to really tell the condition and $42,000 is rediculous money for a 73. It's probably worth a 1/3 of that amount.

I have never seen a 73-74 sell for anything close to that price. It does look nice though.

To answer some of your questions...Look around both the front and rear window for rust bubbles. Check that inside the trunk is solid. Open the hood and get a good look at the firewall/cowl area below the windshield(you may call it a wind screen). That is another place prone to rust.

This might not matter to you, but the grill should be argent silver to be correct, and the hockey stripes are the 1970 version. Having said that, if you don't care about it looking totally correct, that looks like a sweet car from here.

Thanks guys for the info.

I guess the price may seem high compared to US prices but it seems average for here.

Our hippy, tree hugging government is trying to tax all older cars of the road and are making it header by the day to import anything. So we are a captive market.

I will get some photos of the likely rust areas before I drive up and look over it.
