Stainless Replacement Door Handles
« on: September 22, 2012 - 05:07:30 PM »
Hey all,
I recently busted the door handle off my Cud(yup, I'm a brute), but was able to find a new one. I was looking at it and thought to myself, what if I fabricated the handle casting out of 1/8" stainless steel and replaced the casting with something more bomb-proof. Removing the old pin and substituting a new fabricated handle seems tricky, but doable. Do y'all think this would be marketable? If so, how much would folks pay? I know a new set is pretty pricey... I could replicate the grain finish of the originals on the stainless... just a thought. Anyone ever tried to swap out the lever part? Working around the springs seems to be the sticky wicket...

Not worth it!

Too many restorers and reproduction out there. Faster just to get another ready to install.   :2cents:
