Fitting AMD rear valance on my Challenger
« on: September 22, 2012 - 07:12:27 PM »
Just a warning to everyone, if you need a new rear valance for your Challenger, don't wait until after the body is painted to get it and expect it to fit well.  I picked up an AMD rear valance with duel cutouts for my Challenger, and had to do a lot of banging, and some cutting and welding to get it close to the quarters.  I also had to end up skim coating bondo over the valance and quarters. Also, the edges of the valance where they come upto the quarters are rounded over, where the original one was sharp. Also, the bottom holes that bolt to the center brackets aren't even close.

Here are a few shots of the top of the valance that I had to slit and bend out to match the quarters.

We had all the same issues with an AMD Cuda valance.  Had to cut, bend, grind, and drill the tabs on the valance to make it fit even though it was mating up to two new AMD quarters.

It's sure not plug and play.

How many hours to get it right?

It probably took 6-8 hours all together.

That's pretty sucky, but not horrible.

And AMD claims they install everything they sell?

Plenty of OEM ones out there still for sale; I recommend that.

The bottom holes for the brackets were not too far off ...  :pullinghair:
