windows not going up
« on: September 25, 2012 - 05:25:43 PM »
Well put the passenger and driver side glass in and can't get it to move up or down.
It seems to jam on the front and bind. Is there a trick to getting the glass to move smoothly and evenly.
Any help would be great.

Are the guides tightened up or are they loose at the bottom?  You should have the "up stops" and fuzzy guide pieces removed.  Put those on at the very end.  Did you crank the mechanism up and down without the glass attached?  How did it move?  It could be an issue with the mechanism itself.

I removed my entire mechanism.  All the tracks were full of dirt, sand and hardened grease that appears to be wax.   Once stripped, scotch brite pad polished and light grease applied, everything moves nice and smooth ..... along with some new nylon pieces.

Best of luck..... Chaps

I had a similar issue when reinstalling my glass, I could get them to partially go up and down, but would bind up big time at about the half way point. It turns out that I had the regulators on mine installed incorrectly. I don't remember exactly, but it seems to me there were two cutouts in the door that look like the regulator fits into.  On my first attempt, of course I got it wrong. Seems like simple advice but you might want to take another look at this. Good luck.

That's exactly what I did also, I have moved the regulators and the windows now move freely.
Thanks to everyone who helped me out.
