Although it does look very Pontiacy.
I'm a Pontiac guy on the side so I think it works.

I actually wish they would not come out with a Cuda, as the old one is timeless.

Looking at the pictures, I'm not happy with the design.  Mother Mopar should have done a retro look, like they did with the Challenger.

I think the retro look has run it's course.  It started with the Camaro, and the next Mustang is going to be all new.  It wouldn't make sense for Chrysler to build 2 retro models, especially since they would be off pretty much the same platform.

I used to like the new Challenger design, then I saw it in person a lot and it looks way too fat and chunky to me.

The 'Cuda looks a bit more well proportioned, but looks nothing like the design or proportions of the old one.

If that's the design, I'm not impressed.

Gotta disagree here - the whole point of retro is that it can never "run it's course."  :)

Plus, there won't be two retro cars (at least according to the article) as the Challenger will go away.  Lastly, they aren't based on the same platform - the new 'Cuda would be based on a Fiat platform.

I wouldn't be surprised if this car ends up coming out as a tamed down, front-wheel drive model - basically an Intrepid with the wrong damned name on it...

It's okay though - in another few years I'll pick up an ebody and then I won't have to care anymore.  :)

No one knows what its going to look like yet, except maybe a few insiders. My guess is it will be a SRT model.
I personally dont care if it has a "retro" look, but I would think they will have at least a few cues from the past.
I just hope its relatively light, with a rear driving v-8.
Too bad they cant use the "cuda" name.

I would say both the orginal cuda and challenger are similar in size and design, lets agree on that! Now to call this modern version a barracuda syled car ,the only people recalling the name brand will be mostly the owners of the orginal classics. The SRT name brand will help with product reconnection to Vipers-challengers-chargers-etc. Retro syling is not such a bad thing considering the sucess of the challenger. Its all about volume of sales. Will it look like a retro? That would be great! If not the older generations might not step up to the plate to spend 45,000.00 or more.So do you go for the 25 to 35 crowd? Theres alot of modern foreign cars that look similar to C&D shown. :smokin: :dogpile:

Maybe another way of saying this is "musclecar retro" may have run its course. Whatever the case, manufacturers seem to be moving away from that look. The drawings I've seen for the next Mustang are only a little retro, and the Camaro, Charger, the last Cougar, the last GTO, yadda yadda were never really retro at all.

Ultimately, the retro cars are marketed to a bunch of older folks, mostly men. That demographic is starting to die off. The market for something that both looks and acts like a musclecar may be fast disappearing.

and then theres this:

http://www.streetlegaltv.com/news/dodge-secretly-renews-six-pack-trademark/

I hope the muscle car market doesnt die...again! If it does, it will eventually come back, with new technologies. I wouldnt be surprised if my one day future grandson drives a 2045 cuda hover muscle car, with a six pack flux capacitor. He wont even need no stinkin roads.  :roflsmiley:

and PS
I'm sick of hearing people trashing the 4 door charger, like its some sort of bastard child. Its a huge seller! And my wifes 6 cylinder 2012 charger blows the doors off my stockish 440 six pack, so there! Sorry for the mini rant

O think it's a nice looking car. I also think it has as much right to the name Charger as my Elantra. :-)
