8 3/4" Axle Tube Help
« on: September 27, 2012 - 02:01:56 PM »
Are the thin metal "washers" inside the axle tubes supposed to come out when disassembling an 8 3/4"?

If not, suppose a person beat the living &*^%$ out of them while trying.  Can I pound them back flat and be OK?

How do you remove it?  Beat it out?

Stick a long screwdriver in the center section opening and tap it out.

:iagree:  hit one side so it flips sideways then grap it with a pair of pliers or something and yank it out. Help to visualize if you have the new seal in your hands first.
Then to install I wipe a thin layer of silicone ( after the oil had been cleaned out of cource) and use a socket of something close to drive it in square.

you can run a sheetmetal screw thru it and pull/pry with vise grips. It will be toast no matter what you do. (Looks like it already is)
