DB electric makes really good mini starters and for a decent price (I think around $65.00 bucks) and that's new not a reman & they are guaranteed. They sell on Ebay. I know quite a few Mopar guys (myself included) that have used them with no complaints/problems. You can do a key word search on the ebaymotors web site & find them.  :2thumbs:

I re-built my OEM starter.

You'd be amazed on how easy it is to do.
Getting the brushes held back until you do the final assembly is the only tricky part.

There are actually 2 different starters Chrysler used.
One had a smaller armature for the small block, and a bigger one for big blocks.

Learn something new on here all the time. I thought they were identical.

Actually it appears it was a year upgrade.

Regardless, this is a good read...

Got the starter and new positive cable installed today.

Holy Schnikes!

I went from   Brawr...rawr..rawr..rawr..rawr..Vroom

To Chivrooom..

This thing kicks butt.  I could probably drive it home on this thing in a pinch.  :)

Mucho improvement.  I drove it to my shop 20 miles in high 80s heat and it started right up.   Time will tell if it solved my intermittent hot start problem, but I have the feeling it did.

Thanks guys for the advice, I'm digging it.  It's also nice to get rid of that old grungy wire and have something nice and new in there. The one there was not even the original.

Those mini starters are great.

I'd have a hard time going back to the over sized factory starters.

Won't you miss that annoying Chrysler starter sound?  :grinyes:
That's a character to them; a personality you might say.

That does sound awesome!  But that personality makes me nervous. Particularly if I am out of my free tow range!  :)

Pics or it didn't happen..
