Brain Storm for CP...
« on: September 28, 2012 - 03:31:03 PM »
OK It has been brought to my attention that one of our Moderators is having some problems and Jackie and I have decided that the cc.com site should try to help out as we always do.  Chryco our tech moderator has discovered that his new wife has Cancer and has to stay in Canada while Neil holds down the fort in Panama.  One wish his wife has is to bring her car to Carlisle and hang with Jackie in the building that will be for woman owned Chrysler products.  Our admin has designed this area and we believe it will not be visable to Chryco so for now it is a secret. We need to have someone help out with donations and organization.  Please post opinion . . . I have to go on an appointment but will check in later!

Sad news and situation for someone that has contributed so much for sure.

I have seen similar efforts on other boards where you can make donations via Paypal. They may have something on their site to deal with such situations. So much easier to send a few bucks with a couple clicks as opposed to writing a check or getting a money order then having someone act as an accountant to keep it all straight.

Just a suggestion, and now I am wondering what parts of the board you have set up just so I can't see them.

Don't ask.

Giving "gifts" thru Paypal is easy, and they don't take out any bull$hit fees. We just need to know who will collect the money.

Do we know that they are in actual financial need or what?

Denise has a account on here too, maybe she also should be blocked ( like Neil) from this post? Denise has been diagnosed with breast cancer, surgery is the next step. That's all I know at this point? Neil was telling me about it when he visited us last week.
Well if her wish is to take her car to Carlisle, then there is flight costs from Panama, Hotel in Carlisle? Fuel money?
Her car, I assume is in Alberta? That's a heck of a drive from there to Carlisle? It's unknown what her condition will be come next July?  If my place can be utilized somehow I'll do what I can? ( I'm about an hour North of Toronto, about 7 hours driving time to Carlisle from my place?  I'd be willing to fly out there and drive her car here or something like that if it helps? I can put them up here too if need be? Thinking they could fly in to Toronto and drive to Carlisle from there? :dunno:  Just a thought?
I'm not made of money but I'll do what I can?
Keep in mind the coming months could change any plans we make now?  A million things could happen between then and now?
I guess at this point we just neeed to know what the need is and what we as a club are willing to do?

Here's a link to Paypal's non-profit and fundraising page for such circumstances if you are interested.

Chryco has helped many members including myself and he finally got himself moved out of Canada to Panama and now his new wife has Cancer and has to stay in Canada for treatment.  I know Neil is trying to hold everything together and they are having issues.  This secret is to help them get to Carlisle with mopargirls car so she can sit in the building with Jackie who is also having health issues.  So what we need is:

1) Money and someone to collect it
2) a way to get the ca from Canada to Carlisle
3) plane to get them to Carlisle
4) support

I guess first thing is who will volunteer to collect the money and track every penny?   :clueless:

I'm guessing the car is in Alberta? Around Calgary area somewhere? Would have to be round trip ?  Plane tickets would have to be round trip for 2 ?  Motel for Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun ?

Estimated expense if we had a driver with a trailer and pay his expense for round trip would be around 3k on a guess

Motel and food around 600 for 2 people

Airline flights are cheaper the earlier you purchase, if done early enough, could be around 900-1100 each round trip average

A budget of about 7k  would seem to be logical with a little left over for unforseen issues?   Any left overs could be used towards Jackie...
I'm just shooting from the hip on this, but have made that same drive from around where Neil lived to Carlisle before towing a trailer.  Air travel tickets  is the un known issue.

I can use points off of my motel cards for a room , but they are select to availability.  like I have 250,000 points on days inns, super 8 and stuff, 100k at Laquinta, 100k on Holiday inns.  Sometimes its 20k a night for me or more. But I could help out

I wish I could say I could handle all the funds for you guys, but I travel a lot, so sometimes I am gone for weeks and sometimes not able to communicate.  I do have and have used my Paypal for members a bunch, and could send money to the person bringing the car, paying for airline tickets, and room reservations. If I am needed for this.

If not, I can come up with 500 or so to chip in on this.  The Holidays are coming tho, So things need to be collected up by someone before we start getting I owe You's. I would offer more, but just paid cash for my wifes new car for our anniversary, and bought a new Mega block and some Indy heads for me,

If I can help out, give me a shout.   but figure close to 6-7k for this to happen

Wow, and he just stepped up to help with everything with Jackie and all the while never mentioning this, that is a pretty selfless act, says what a good person Neil is. I am in to help with this even though I have never met him, he does provide alot of help for all of us here. This must be a big strain on them both, especially having to be apart during it. If we can help even only for this one time for them to have more time together and for her to have the enjoyment and experience of being in the Mopar Women bldg that would be great, they deserve it. Breast cancer is a horrible thing and I hope she manages well.

Neil would help a stranger in need at anytime for a root beer.   He is a stand up guy.  He is glad not to wear 4 sweat shirts now, but lost between 2 countries. He has a lot going on.

I assumed since so many on here that know him personally are still fond of him, that is saying something. Not to mention like I already said he quickly stepped up to organize help for Jackie while he had this going on. I do not blame him a bit for wanting to be somewhere warmer. I can only imagine how hard it is in his shoes right now, I do not envy him one bit.
