Shift Console Light???
« on: September 30, 2012 - 05:05:20 PM »
There was a wire running into this right where the pen is pointing. Does this little black thing come out? I assume it does, but I couldn't figure out how.
How do I attach the wire to it?
THANKS for any help!

I was at your place once and found a light and socket on E-Bay.

They aren't easy to find though.

Glen,

The bulb holder just pops outs, it is only held in by four clips.

As to the wire, once you pull the bulb, I think you could attach the wier to the back of the bulb holder.

I will get you a picture of mine, once Photobucket starts to work again.  :banghead:

Same thing happened to mine.  You can strip the wire back and solder it back to the metal housing of the bulb socket.  The wire becomes brittle over the years.

Just to clarify, the wire is postive and the retaining clips are the ground (to complete the circuit).  It would be a good idea to clean up the tangs and the hole to make sure you have a good ground.
