I've seen number 77 run here in Portland. It is stinkin fast. In fact, I was in the paddock looking around and taking pictures of the car along with the other Trans Am cars at the vintage races with my son (about 7-8 at the time). They were starting the cars and getting them warmed up for the next race. The owner of the 77 Challenger asked if my son would like to sit in the car while it was warming and I could take pictures. He even had one of his crew get some ear plugs for my son since it's pretty loud.

My son thought it was cool but didn't really realize how cool until we were watching Speedvision and saw some historic footage of the Trans Am series. I was able to hit pause on the DVR and said "see that car? that's the car you sat in". He was much more impressed after that. It was a good day.

Man I love that road racing look. Now to save some money (since my budget is gone) for the wheels I want to give me that look.

Geeze, for all that money you would think the car would have air conditioning...    And it only has one seat!!!

The guys that did this car - helped me put my Green Cuda back together.   (It was the 440-6 F8 Green Cuda that was sold in the "For Sale" section).

I saw the race car at their shop and it is just incredible to see.     

What's interesting is that their shop is located on an Army base.   They rent out excess space and had to get military clearance to go on and off the base (guys with M16s at the gate).   I had to provide a copy of my drivers license a week before I was allowed to go onto the base with them to see the car.   I guess I got clearance, because all I had to do was show it again at the guard house.

Ahh, but it does. See that little black tube thing wrapped around the A pillar...its the deluxe, high performance 1-150 model.

I think it was 2010, up at the "Vintage" Elkhart Lake, Wis., Road America races in July, I got the opportunity to warm up the engine (while in the pits, just before one of his races, for the #77 T/A owned by Ken Epstien -- super nice guy!  In fact, its on my facebook as a highly treasured photo!.. Also, I had my own T/A parked in-doors on display, next to the #77 T/A, at the 2005 Carlisle Chrylser show... with Sam Posey there... this was a super privaledge, as was with Ken Epstein (I was also wearing a t-shirt with the #77 car pictured on it... and attending the Vintage road races is the main reason I go there to see the T/A (#77) and AAR (#48) run these events.  Infact, that year 2010, the #77 T/A won the Sunday Vintage TransAm race (Road America) passing the Donahue AMX on the final lap... awesome!!!!

that's a cool story and something your son will never forget. Make sure you keep that video footage around!
