What a crock of $hit.  He had a signed contract for the lesser amount.  Yet they still went ahead and pursued charges against him.  :screwy:

I hope he win in court!  :money:

The state should charge those people with filing a false police report.

If somebody had me arrested, on false pretenses, in front of my own house, I'd want his nuts of a platter. $2.2 mill is cheap.

Wow, small world. This happened in my area. Only a few miles from my house (Chesapeake Virginia). The Chevy Dealership owner Dennis Ellmer apologized and said they intended to let Mr. Sawyer keep the $5,600.00 dollars. Mr. Sawyer said that wouldn't be enough. I don't blame him. That's a drop in the bucket should he win a jury award for false arrest and slander. I really don't fault the police as when the magistrate issues a warrant, they are bound by the law to follow thru. The fault lies totally with the dealership for claiming Mr. Sawyer stole the car. How do you steal your own car?? He bought a new black SUV, brought it back the same day to trade it for a Blue one he liked better. New paperwork was issued/signed/sealed and off he drove. The blue one had more options and the dealership realized they screwed up and wanted him to sign a new contract for the difference in price ($5,600.00) which he refused & I don't blame him. That's where all the mess started. Mr. Sawyer had also traded in a 2008 Saturn. I think Mr. Ellmer can afford to compensate Mr. Sawyer. They sell about 13,000 cars a year! About time a car dealer gets a taste of their own medicine for a change. I hope Mr. Sawyer gets at least 25K for his troubles!!  :clapping: Here's the local story!!
