i wish i had high enough ceiling to get a lift in, i have a bronce that is lifted and will just barely clear the ceiling

Hey Cranker,

From what I understand from a few manufacturers, you only need a minimum ceiling height of 8 feet to get a lift in & raise it. I'm sure you couldn't get it to the fully raised position with a car on it, but it's supposed to be high enough to at least get another car underneath. There are other types of lifts like a scissor lift that will raise the car enough to work on it. I had the advantage of designing & building my garage, so I made sure I had enough ceiling height. The lowest point is the bottom of the steel I beam, & it's just shy of 12 feet.

Hey Hemi Hunter,

If you do decide to get a lift for the new pole building, hang on to this info. The lifts I got were Bend Pak, & bought from a semi-local dealer from Roscoe, NY in Sullivan County. The web site link is:

http://www.e-autolifts.com/pf/pf.html

The prices are cheaper than other places that sell Bend Pak, & they include the shipping fees. The only added fee was a $75 fuel surcharge. They can deliver to your place, but you need a way to unload it. I went to Yellow Freight's terminal with my car trailer & the forlift loaded them on. When I got back home, I unloaded them with the overhead chain hoist.

I got the 9000 pound, 4 post model, number HD-9 (wide one) I went with 4 posts because they're mainly for parking, & I won't have the wheels off much when they're up.

Everyone's shop looks really good!!  All I have is a 2 car attached garage that houses the convert while I finish the restoration.  In the subdivision that I live in . . . the rules state that you aren't allowed to work on cars but really the only way I would have a problem is if someone complained.  So far some the neighbors that are close to me are watching my progress and anxious to see the car done!!  I'm usually pretty quiet too!  I would love to show a pic but don't want to open the door right now!!  Soon!!!     :grinyes:   :grinno:   :grinyes:  :grinno:

Two-car attached garage, about 400 sq. ft.

Not normally this crowded, we're hunkered down for the big snowstorm later today.

Since we both recently remarried, gotta take it easy on the cash flow. Insulation/wallboard, compressor and heater were the big projects this year, nothing major on the Cuda planned, just trying to get it a little more driveable for the coming season.

Drive it like you paid for it

Hey 72Cuda,

What kind of heating unit do you have hanging in there? I'm tired of freezing my butt off & hope to install something sometime this year before next winter. I'd like something out of the way like that & wondering how well it works for you.
