Real Cuda sneaks past 200
« on: October 08, 2012 - 12:08:59 PM »
Finally got around to this, and the video, after a hellishly busy summer. Pleased to let ya know we broke past 200 at the NORC  Open Road Race last May. This is NOT a G-Force $235K, 572 cid aluminum block Hemi, EFI, 6 speed Tremec 3inch stretch carbon fiber front clip car or LMC Cuda $$?? all tube chassis Viper motor, efi,  tranny and suspension, tubbed rear wells. It is an original sheet metal body, 500 cid maxwedge, Indy heads,  naturally aspirated, with stock 833 OD 4 speed, 8 /34 axle with 2.76 gears that anyone can build. Im a guy with a 2 car garage and a drill press.. No 15000 sq ft shop. This was the 14th race for this car and the first run for this motor. There is some tweaking to do with jets, but Im a very happy camper about its performance. Link to YT..

I know its a bit long but it was a good ride and I had fun making the video. It just seemed to morph into what it is. Enjoy it. I did....

Awesome!  That must of felt great. When I was watching the wheel all I could think was its windy but that is more like a fast-foward version of all the corrections that are done at even 40mph. Super cool man. :ylsuper:

Outstanding!  What a feat--202 MPH in an E-BODY!  I hit 95 back in the summer.  Your car seemed so smooth.  What kind of tires and wheels used to roll that smooth? Wheel bounce is always a problem with me.  I'll bet those bugs are imbedded into the windshield.   :ylsuper:

Cannot imagine that speed in one of these cars.  What kind of speed in the "S" section of the road?  Pretty cool!

Wow that takes balls!   I was in disbelief until I noticed your front end. I know from person experience over 130 scary things happen in an ebody.

That is an awesome video.   :ylsuper:  I like seeing the cross hanging from the mirror.  Looked like you might have been pulling more than a 1 g through the narrows at times, with the cross hanging out at 45 deg or more on occasion.   :2thumbs:

Answers and comments, Couldnt figure out how to respond individually so I'll do it this way. Ministry seemed appropiate. Highway Star or Space Truckin would have been predictable. Adrenalan stops when the wheels start turnin. Wheels and tires, Centerline 18" aluminum and Michelin Super Sport II 245/45/18 (100Y). You may want to check shocks and T bars, I run KYB and the fattest ones M.P. makes.  Narrows speed is 115-120.. Keeping air out from underneath helps. You dont want to watch on yer ipad anyway. I'll put some specs up soon.

The rear window louvers must offer an aerodynamic advantage!
