RMS, Magnumforce, or Hotchkis rear suspension parts
« on: October 13, 2012 - 06:36:32 PM »
I am at the point where it's time to put the rear end and suspension on the Challenger.  I already have the Hothckis TVS with 1 1/4" Dr. Diff relocation kit and need to relocate the back springs even more to get a tire larger than a 285 in the wheel wells.  Will a 3" relocation kit get the clearance needed to run a 305/18 rear tire?  I ordered the 3" relocation kit and was wondering if it is needed to mount the RMS rear kit.  Also, will the RMS work well with the Hotchkis front kit?  Any preference between RMS, XV, or Magnumforce?  Should I just run the Hothckis setup with the 3" relocation kit?  I can sell the Hotchkis rear parts and buy the four bar setup if there's really a tire clearance benefit or handling benefit over the Hotchkis.

Thanks for any advice.

No reason why you can't get a 305 in there with a Dr Diff kit if you have the correct backspacing on the wheels.  305 is only 12" wide.

Here is mine with a 1" relocation kit and a 12" wide tire. I have room to spare on both sides. I've got an inch to the spring and about 3/4 of an inch to the fender lip.

If you are even thinking about a four bar then do it! I have all the goodies in the back (offset, hotchkis everything, billstiens) with my cuda I have the rear shackles basically touching the rear frame when suspension is loaded. A slightly longer shackel is an easy fix , but the springs already only have only a 1/4" before they introduce themselves to the pretty rear valance!!!!!  and a longer shackle would put the springs dead into the valance. some sort of link suspension is on my list now!!  I do have lots of room now for big tires though! 275-40-18 still has 3/4" space next to springs. all this stuff would probably work fine If i had a slightly arched leaf spring ,but that would put the ass up higher than i want. Just my 2 cents
I will finish a project.I will finish a project. I will finish a project.

Are you familiar with the DSE quad-ra-link.  There are two cars that are debuting at SEMA that have it.  I'm working on a parts list that have been cross referenced with other installations.  The DSE rear suspension is on of the best riding rear suspensions that I have ever come across.  It just works and plant the arse of the car when you stomp on it.
