From my very limited understanding, it's the very first body of that style built, before it goes to the production line. Kind of like a full scale reference vehicle.

Do some Goggling and you'll find plenty of threads on this very car from the past few years here, DodgeCharger.com, Moparts etc. Awesome piece of history. Bummed I'm not a multimillionaire. Never been too enthusiastic on "collector" vehicles, but his would be awesome to own.

I saw it at the Mecum auction in Indy back in May, 2011.  The picture looks like it was from there.  Got up to $20,000 but didn't sell back then.
