Employed Again + Announcement
« on: October 18, 2012 - 08:22:24 PM »
Well, here’s the deal.

In January, I was fired. Not laid off, but fired. It’s a very long story, and I’ve talked a little about it hear before, but the short form is that the moved a bunch of little girls around my cube who played Lady Gaga and Katy Perry videos all day. I complained, loud and long, and I was basically told a) if you have a problem with their behavior, you talk to them, and b) the official word from the owner is that they’re untouchable. (In a later conversation with a friend about this I said “I can’t understand why they’d be protected, when they did so little, and the people who were doing award-winning work were told to shove it.” My friend said to me “Dumbass, the owner is nailing them.” Never occurred to me.)

So, long story short, after months of this they promised to move me…and went back on the promise. I told them that I couldn’t continue to produce work under the then current conditions. This was on a Friday. On Monday when I got to work they had two cops waiting for me. They told the cops that I had threatened to kill everyone in the building unless the moved me to another area, and then they fired me.

Yes, these are some truly ruthless people. This is one of the reasons I hate living around Washington DC; it’s full of people like this.

As of last month I’m employed again. Actually, I just signed the contract and sent it off. And for this new job, I’m going to Saudi Arabia for a while. I expect to shortly have a good internet connection there, so I don’t expect you’ll be seeing any less of me after that is set up.

But for those of you who have been wondering why I’ve been saying things like “I don’t think I’ll be at Carlisle for a while,” well, that’s why.

Well, that sucks, and congratulations!

Sounds like you're going to be better off without them.

What kind of work will you be engaged in Saudi Arabia, if you can say?

Probably one of those hush hush spy jobs...   :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

I bet gas is cheap over there.

If I told you...naw, just kidding.

I'm an instructional systems designer and performance consultant. Mostly I research and create training. Nothing hush hush.

That's crazy, I would think you could have screwed them back for making a false report. Oh well.

There's a lot more to it, including things that I can't talk about just yet, which should answer your question

Honey, I was 3 sentences into your post and knew the boss was banging the girls.... that's not just DC, its *EVERYWHERE*. Anytime you see a useless chick 'employed' she either banging or related to the boss. Same with guys, just the way life works. We have a large military and industrial presence in the Kingdom, I've been to SA several times. See if your new company issues you a Mitre briefing for the area, read it carefully, they live far differently than we do. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there.
