I do agree with the bear bows. Great for beginners. But they do the job just fine for non beginners.
In my honest opinion, go to the flea market on Platte Ave. and purchase the first right handed bow you find for less than 100 bucks.
Throw a whisker biscuit and a site on the bow and let the boy shoot.
I have helped several beginners with just this type of bow since I started hunting 5 years ago.
When I started, I put alot of stock into new shiney bows. But my mentor had a bow that was 25 years old.
I made fun of him for his ugly bow but when the season was through, he got an elk and I did not.
So honestly, if it throws a razor blade, a beginner will not know the difference between 220 fps and 350 fps.
By the way, my first bow was a bear! It was about a 1983 model.
sold it to a guy for 75 bucks and he shot a deer with it.
Then sold it to a beginner.
Just get something! That's the key!
