Shout from Southern MD: new member & '73 owner
« on: October 26, 2012 - 08:03:58 AM »
Greetings and (whew!) am I glad to have found y'all!  I belong to quite a few other forums and, well, long story short, I already know this reseource is like so many others that save memebrs thou$ands, years of enjoyment and . . .  hair! I"ve already made a post or two, mainly in anticipation of buying a car now named, "Mischief"  and which "found" my wife and I at Carlisle this past Fall. We've already taken her on her maiden voyage around So. MD and we're looking to many more cruises. I am especially geared about gleaning what those of you who earned so much knowledge and experience will share with me. I will take a stab at posting some pics (for any purists, this car is not 'original' or #'s matching. For that, you'll need to talk to the wife about her '66 GTO w/ only 27,000 miles on it!). Here we go . . .

Thank you both!  I really, truly look forward to learning as much as I can, here. I also shoot a lot of clay targets and started reloading my own shells a decade ago. A forum much like this one (only on shotshell reloading) has proven so incredibly valuable that, when my wife got her '66 GTO I immediately helped her find the GTO forums.

Wally, any chance you'll make it to the East Coast Mopar Nationals at Budds Creek, tomorrow (Sat 10/27)?   My wife and I will only be able to stay from 9 until around 1pm (bummer) but, I am looking forward to it.

Dave, how would I go about determining (or verifying) if the oil dipstick in the 440 Magnum that was put into my '73 Challenger is the original (that is, 'correct' length) oil dipstick? I ask as, the original owner really, really babied this car and he indicates that, every time he has changed the oil, he's put 5qts of oil back into her but, the oil on the end of the dipstick always just reaches over the top of the "Add" mark . . .

I'm thinking, if I determine I have the wrong one, I may be able to find the correct part on vendor's row at the East Coast Nat'ls tomorrow.  Any chance your outfit will have a table or trailer there?

Not sure if we're taking the dog or not but, you'll recognize me as the guy next to the woman holding a 4-1/2 lb chihuaha (and canine Mopar lover)!

Good morning!  Why yes, we're right in Lusby, what a small world!
W-o-w, what a beautiful car. If we'd ever seen you out-and-about before we'd have never forgotten you, that's for sure!
Being so new to all this, I'm 'fresh meat' for just about any venue that close to the homeplace. As it is, I'll only be able to stay until 1pm as I have to work this evening
#@&*^ my current work precludes me from a facebook account but, I'll find a way to make contact into the MarylandMopars, somehow.
Yes, keeping fingers crossed that the storm changes path . . . every degree East may make the difference between injuries or worse . . .

Oooo, sorry to hear about the '67 but, glad to know the hunt is on (the hunt is at least 1/2 the fun)!
Judy, I spent just 2 or 3hours last night browsing this incredible forum (wow!) and, amongst other thngs I learned (original parts still available from Mopar!!!!!!  :bananasmi I also de-coded my 'new-to-me' 73 Chally's fender code.
Sigh. In yet another example that one facet of human nature to never be satisfied, I discovered just what the seller told me as I had the car inspected before he tossed me the keys exactly one week ago today: even though my car was the dark green metallic (JF8) it is now, when he bought it at Carlisle 8 years ago, the car was originally a dark silver metallic (JA5). Guess what my always dreamed about color for my eventual Chally has been?  You guessed it!
Sometimes I just gotta remind myself how absolutely tiny what I think can be my problems really are!    :wavingflag:

Back at you. e-body look great with JA5.  You can do aanything to your mopar for your personal enjoyment. It just gets expensive over time.  HAHA..
There have been Mopar car shows at the Chrysler dealer Solomon Is. over the past years. Never got down to
attend the car shows or cruis'in.  Crossfire Mopars are located in Southern Md.........

Welcome from yet another one of Marylands native sons. I am located near the Cove Road exit off of 695 (Beltway). Beautiful Challenger you have there I had my Gold 1970 Charger painted Dark Metallic Green back in the 70's.
