72 to 71 Conversion plans
« on: October 27, 2012 - 12:24:55 PM »
So, I’ve accumulated all the necessary parts to convert my 72 to a 71 cuda. Does anyone have step by step instructions for adding the headlight mounts, buckets, wiring, grill, etc? Also, how many hours will it take a pro body guy to set all of this up? The grill will need to be painted and the gills on the side will need to be grafted into the fenders. Would you suggest welding the patches in? Or, panel bond? Thanks for all your help.

Thanks, I have the weld in side lamps holders, lamps, lens, gill patches and all the gills and hard ware. I thought the 71-74 valance was the same.

Different valance for 71. 72-74 is by themselves
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Can it be modified to fit the 71 grill?

I can keep the lower valance keeping the 72 fog lights, right? They'll work, but won't be correct for a full clone, correct?

I do believe you are correct.
It should still work but won't be exact.

Can someone else confirm this.

You're looking at a ton of  :money:
to convert into a 71'...if you want it looking like a real 71'.

Did you research prior to starting this conversion what it'll take?
4-5 grand maybe more!

I have to replace my rear quarters anyways. So, I already bought the 71 rear quarter skins. I believe I have all the parts to do it.

I would assume you would just keep the 72 parts until you found the correct 71 parts.
