Brad. As a 1967 440, it was rated at 350 hp....... That's what I meant
Tom. Well, I had a major life event ..... Lost my wife of 40 years to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in January....
So, I kind of Rebooted the rebuild a few weeks ago, as I now plan on a major road trip with the Challenger to clear my head for a few months and maybe figure out what my future is now.......
When I bought this car 5 years ago it was represented to me that the motor had about 50,000 miles and they had gone through it with valves, hardeden seats, cam, etc. well, when they took her apart, she was all wore out...... irings shot, no hardened valve seats, etc.....the seller hadnt done anything as represented. So a fair number of miles and a lot of unleaded fuel...... Anyway, she was very tired inside.
My request of the builder was to kick it up, but I wanted it very street able, not temperamental and run on pump gas. you guys here forgot more than Ill ever know about all this, and ill get the specifics from the builder (we went over it, but i forgot all the details). I do know that we kept the stock 915 heads.....no porting. They put some nice internals in..... Ran into a few snags this past week and need to finish yp some other things (suregrip and 3.23 gears) and will need to put a few miles on her, then on the dyno and install a revnnator and hope to put her on the road by the end of the week......assuming all goes well and weather permitting... Will begin my trek south.....
