The western area, Deep Creek lake, in Maryland got over 3 ft of snow. Over 17,000 without electricity. It is in the mountain area. The cold front from the west mixed with Herricane Sandy.

My brother-in-law has a 2nd home on the lake and most of the homes around the lake have natural gas. But u need electricity to activate the burners, stove u can light with match or ligher.
Those living outside the lake area have propane or fire places I imagine. Small country roads in the mountains.

A week ago or so, we got flurries and rain. The next morning, a 14 year old and his younger brother were going to school. They hit a couple on an icy overpass. Somehow, both cars burst into flames. Everyone burned to death, except for the husband in the opposing car. He was life flighted to a burn unit, I believe in Omaha, I'm not sure. The 14 year old had a learner permit. You never ,ever hear of a car catching on fire anymore. yet here was 2 of them in one wreck. What a horrible way to go. What a horrible thing for the surviving husband to wake up to. On my way to work, I saw the blackened spot on the overpass. There was some debris left over, like a backpack or something. Bright colored against the concrete wall. I don't know what it was. It was sobering.

We got a wee bit more than what you got but I think we get about the same weather, Doug.  I shoveled it at like 3am today before the rain set in.

Supposed to be 61 degrees on Sunday!  :grinyes:

Need one nice day as I need to put up a storage tent to put my daytona iroc r/t in and Sunday looks like it might happen,I need to move to a warmer area as I am getting older and really hate winter now.
Be careful shoveling snow guys I lost my step brother a few years ago,he was 43 years old and had  a heart attack shoveling his driveway.

We were supposed to get only 1-3inches in the hilly areas but by the time I left work yesterday we had 5 already. Woke up this morning to 12.5 inches. So instead of the weathermen saying they messed up they are calling the storm an overachiever. :roflsmiley:

Still no snow here but it did get into the low 70s. I had to put a long sleeve shirt on when I went out to play in the yard.
