I'm dickering with the seller over price.
The car has a rebuilt title.

Generally 50% of KBB And you will have a very difficult time financing and insuring it.

 Get the CARFAX and see if The type of damage shows up. I would be reluctant to buy a salvage title vehicle sight unseen!

You would have no way to judge the quality of work that was done on that car.People that buy a salvage car will fix them in the cheapest way.They do it to make money.The quality of work most likely was not the main priority.If you buy it and find out it was not fix right good luck trying to sell it.

I dunno, would want to see before and after pics of what the car looked like to see what sort of damage was done to it.  Like 4 speed fish saidm people fix up these cars to make $$$.  Greed for $$$ makes for a cheapo repair.  Possible it could have been done right but would have to see the work done to it.  Otherwise-scary.... 

Wojndering also if it might not be an accident, could be a flood car in which unless every electrical component was replaced, you may have electrical gremlins in the future.... cars get totaled because of floods...

I'd  look elsewhere unless you know exactly what has been done to the car and what repairs have been done and even then I'd want to talk to the repair shop to see what type/quality of work they do. And like Phil said, if it's been in a flood  .....run away, run far away!!

This is a quote from the selling dealer, how he explained the accident to me.........

This vehicle had an accident thru passenger door, and front right fender... Right front fender was replaced, and door was also replaced. No airbag deployment ever, or frame damage. They make it a rebuilt cause when you replace body parts, they need to inspect the vehicle at DMV, and brand the title rebuilt. Unfortunately I couldnt take your trade in cause all the cars we have in inventory are 2008 and up. My price is pretty firm, as its well price for a R/T Classic Series, however, I am open to reasonable and respectful offers. I love your Challenger, looks amazing. I sell lots of Challengers, and they are a personal favorite. A carfax report I do have but dont have a scanner, but however it is publically accessible online at http://www.carfax.com/ ...

Maybe every State is different in their laws.

I hit a deer last year in my 09 Challenger. I had to have the passenger's side fender replaced, along with the hood and grill and all the plastic pieces that support it.

My car looks as good as new, but I never had to get a salvage title.

That does sound odd about the reason for a salvage title. Like Mike, I've had wrecked vehicles, had replaced a passenger side door on my wife's car and also the same thing on my Barracuda. I never had to obtain a salvage title, but that was in Virginia. I guess the car fax report will give light to what really happened.

Salvage tile happens when the insurance company deems the damage too costly to fix and pays off the value of the car. Usually around 80% of the value.  So whatever really happened to the car was an expensive fix.

So if the car is worht, let's say, $30k, then there had to be at least $24k in damage?  Sounds like more than a door and fender....

I just yahoo , Florida rebuilt title, it is the same as a salvage title.The car was label salvage by the insurance co.If someone buys it and wants to put it back on the road then they get a rebuilt title.That car had major damage and the person selling it is lying thru his teeth.

This must be a Florida thing. I live in VA. & my mother-in-law has a '93 Ford with less than 50,000 original miles. The car was hit and had approx $1,800.00 in damage (mostly just body panels) and the blue book was less than that so the insurance 'totaled' the car. We kept the car and paid the $50 dollar salvage fee. The car was never retitled. I had the same scenario with my '73 Barracuda, I kept the car, repaired it and no new salvage title was ever issued.

30K is way to much for a car with a salvage title!! Just my .02
