A518 tail shaft vs 727 tail shaft

Dumb question if the A518 is based off the 727 design, and the OD in the A518 is in the tail-shaft  why can't the tail-shaft portion of the A518 be mated to the 727 and just replace the 727's tail shaft.

915 heads (mild head work, stock bottom end 10/9:1 compression)
A518 2600-2800 Stall
4.10 rear gear
TTI headers with 3' exhaust with  X pipe 
comp XE274H cam
Hughes Roller Rockers
Holley Sniper EFI
Holley Street Dominator intake
MSD ignition

Lack of oil pressure control circuits to control the OD I would think + the valve body would have to be different

What CP said, plus the rear of the 727 is not even big enough to bolt the OD section onto.
