Does anyone know why my 340/416 stroker engine is slightly lower on the driver's side? I think it may be the engine mount brackets. I installed new parts-store-quality mounts (insulators) on both sides. New trans mount as well. I really want to make sure that the brackets bolted between the block and the insulators are the right part. I'm chasing down a vibration between 3000 and 3500 under hard acceleration, and I need to guarantee that my brackets are right.
When I bolt them to the block, there is a gap about the size of one or two washers, meaning the bracket is wider than the block ears on the driver's side. I am also getting a lot of movement when I blip the throttle, meaning the driver's side of the block is raising up.
When I know the brackets are right, what mounts (insulators) would you all suggest? I don't want to feel every vibe as it's a 4 speed car, but it has 530 feet of torque. I want to install a torque strap or equivalent as well without welding or drilling if possible.
Thanks!
