Thanks guys!

So i'm getting started on the engine and i've gotten some advice (from a machinist) that I should bore the engine a bit because of some rust in the cylinder wall, but i'm thinking I could possibly just hone it out and it could be good.  I'm no engine guy so i'm hoping someone here might know better what to do.  The last thing I want to do is start messing with this engine, and obviously if I talk to a machinist he's going to see opportunities to machine.... i'd rather get advice from people who want what's best for the car.  Posting a pic below.

HEre's a pic of the cylinder wall.  This is the only cylinder like this in the engine.  The others have a great fresh cross hatch look to the walls and the previous owner said the engine has fresh rings.  My plan is this:

Since I don't have a cam, lifters, or push rods, i'd like to order them, keeping things as stock as possible or I might be sold on a slight cam upgrade.  Does anyone have a recommendation on where to buy this stuff?  I'm thinking crane or summit maybe, but i'm sure someone's been through this already.

After ordering that stuff and cam bearings (mine are pitted), i'm going to finish tearing down the shortblock to measure and check everything before actually building it up again.  My knowledge on this stuff is absent completely, so i'm hoping to find someone I can trust on this, or perhaps a reputable mopar engine shop.

Looks too rusty to clean up to me?  :'(  ( without boring it)  those pistons look to have no valve reliefs so that means it's down the hole quite a bit = low compression  :grinno:

Contact Mr. Six pack for a cam.  His name is really Bob Karakashian and you will be VERY happy.   His email is mr6pk@hotmail.com.  Tell him you know me and he'll take care of you.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Hungout Sunday with my new friend Chris who I met at a gas station.  He provided me with my first ride ever in a 71 cuda, and some motivation to get my project on the road asap!  His car is originally a 1971 grand coupe in Hemi Orange with a 318 auto, now a 440 auto.

Was checking through my parts today and found a couple interesting things.  First off, I've got two radiators, ones a Part number: 3443962

Application: 1971 B and E-Body
Core size: 22 inch
Engine displacement: 383 cubic inch
Transmission style" manual
Options: heater only, no a/c, without N51 code

Obviously this is the original for my car, and judging from some quick research i'm glad i've got it cause it looks expensive and hard to find.  The other one is a 2998956 that looks like it's a 26" for any 1970 big block B or E body.  My guess is the guy had it to cool the 440 he was racing with, but i'm guessing I won't need it.  Not sure if i'll sell it or keep it, hmmm....
