Engine dyno yesterday :
got just over 330 horsepower and 393 torque. Used a Bob Karkashian (mr6pack) cam recommended by CODY. Overall for a pretty much stock-ish build i'm pretty happy I think. Paid $428 for a full 7 hours of tuning and 3 guys working on setting things up and making changes.
Stock carb had a small issue because the vacuum secondary diaphram on the List 6191 carb (stock for 71 383 4 speed) was bad, and the one that came with my big $100 kit (part number 37-1536) had an eyelet on the end of the rod instead of an elbow. Contacted holley and found out that the elbow was a chrysler only thing and is only available through Daytona Carburetors in florida. Also I needed a banjo style fitting for the fuel inlet (part number 26-25). Got them both shipped to me from daytona for $37 total. Not a remarkable deal, but at least they're coming. THe part number for the diaphram is 64-707a just for the record.
The other interesting info about the dyno was that the stock carb was performing comparably with a new style 80670 (with jets 69p and 72sec working the best), though the newer carb had slighly smoother torque and hp curves through the runs (could've been the vacuum secondary diaphram that we rigged in). In addition to this, we found that a spacer added like 7 hp. I think i'll try and just get a thicker gasket though instead of jumping to a 1" spacer right away.
