Yes the type of clutch determines whether you use the large over center spring in the clutch pedal assembly or not. I'm assuming your spring is in place now & you installed a diaphragm style clutch.

I really have no clue on this one.  Beyond my skillset.  Does this pic help identify it?

The only spring I have in the installation is the return spring on the outside of the fork.

That's a diaphragm type clutch you need to remove the large over center spring off of the clutch pedal if you haven't already.

Remove the big daddy spring on the clutch pedal assembly, the downside is that you will have play at the top of the clutch because the diaphragm will not hold the clutch all the way up.

What would be the stock way to do this?  Should I switch this out? I would have to pull everything apart I think...

You'll have no problem with that clutch, just remove the big spring. I just did this last month with a 440 in a 71 Cuda :2thumbs:

Stick a screwdriver between the coils and jamb some washers or coins between all the coils of the spring one by one. That will lengthen it and make it easier to get out. OR just cut it and throw it away if you can get something up there to cut it out.

Alan

Once you pulled it, how much play was in the pedal?

You have to keep the small spring on the clutch fork. There's regular free play before the clutch disengages

Clutch fork return spring

I still think that lil sucker won't hold the clutch pedal all the way up but I have another plan to make it work.

Stuck two screwdrivers on the end of that spring and had it removed in 2 minutes.  Clutch feels great now!  Thanks again guys for the help on that one.   :bananasmi :bananasmi :bananasmi
