Holes at Bottom Corners of Windshield Frame

What are these holes?  Are they normal?  Identical holes are on the other side.

Should I tap them flat and spot weld them?

That's where the plastic/rubber spacers go that position the glass properly. I don't recall those holes on my car though.

kinda look like welds that got ripped out of the sheetmetal...

My car had those holes and for what I don't know.  Some assembly aid at the factory probably.   I welded mine shut!

Mine had them as well (LA build).  They looked like a potential leak so I welded them up.

Mine is an LA Car, too.   

I am grateful for the responses.  I think I am just going to tap them closed and weld them.  They don't seem to serve any purpose.

I'm wondering if it was and LA thing only.  My car is also an LA.  Any none LA cars have the holes?  They look like they were punch from the bottom side with a sharp punch.

Mine had them too, and it was made in Hamtramck  I post the same question a few years ago, and no one knew, so I welded them up also.
