I certainly understand your concern over the dash pad.   It's a large chunk of money to spend on one part.   Your dash pad is a very visible centerpiece to your interior and you don't want to skimp on that.

That being said,  I bought mine from Dave and I am very happy with it.   Dave is a great guy and I always get top quality products from him.

I guess what I am trying to say is, if you bought your dash pad from Dave, set back, relax, it's going to be great.

Agreed it is a big investment for a pad.

Looking through some old posts it seems that pad prices are going up not down, they were cheaper a couple of years ago. Regardless hoping it will be worth it.

Here is a close-up of the grain if that helps any.  I took this picture before I installed the "barracuda" emblem to show the detail.

Did you just pop your emblem on or use some sort of adhesive?

Here is my old thread on the Ultimate Rides install on my barracuda 4 years ago. Still holding up perfect. Did require some prefitting. I would highly suggest doing as much on the bench before installing in the car. Not the assembly, but just test fitting everything possible. Cutting and heat guns will be involved.

I used a reproduction "barracuda" emblem (I think from Year One but I can't remember now) and it had a self adhesive "wax" paper covered backing.  I know it is hard to tell in the picture but I still had the original frame that is pinned into the dash pad.  I have not seen anyone offering a reproduction frame.  The "barracuda" emblem sticks to the frame.  I wish that I had taken a picture of the frame installed without the "barracuda" sticker stuck to it but I just didn't think of it at the time.

Dave sells the emblems.

Maybe someone can chime in here that might know for sure.  I didn't need one but I did look for a reproduction frame just in case I messed mine up.  The kind of search so that I would know they where available if I did need one.  I did not find one.

I got my Challenger sticker from Dave.  I've never seen the plastic frame available in a repop.  If you find one still on a pad, do NOT just try to pry it off.  Cut the frame off the pad.  There are accually plastic retainers on the pins.  Somehow, the factory attached the plastic frame to the vinyl before the vinyl was moulded around the dash frame.

To attach the plastic frame... I lined it up as best I could and pushed it against the pad.  This left 3 small indents in the pad.  I punctured them with a pic so I had three small holes in the pad.  Then I used a very small amount of 100% silicone on each pin to hold it inplace.

Also, the outer border of the plastic frame originally had a chrome paint on it.  I ended up using a paint pen to put the border back on.
