When checking out the Gateway event calendar earlier this year I noticed the change from Monster-Mopar to Mega-Mopar but I just thought that they retitled the same event that had been going on there for a while. I didn not realize that it was a completely different organization that was putting on the show.
Gateway is practically in my own backyard so I go there just about every time there is a Mopar or a good drag racing event. As we all know, the track has been having a financial issues the past couple of years so I do my little part to try and help support it so hopefully it can stay open. So I'm sure I'll be going again. After all it seems to me that an event named Mega-Mopar would, or should, be exclusively all about Mopars shouldn't it? I don't know why they would call it Mega-Mopar and then make it open to all other makes and models, that doesn't make sense to me.
I've been out of the loop for a while so I don't know who Josh is, but apparently he has a lot of loyal supporters. I can see that here and I get the same vibe from some of the locals I've talked to here in St Lou. Why there is only one "slot" for a Mopar show I don't know, the track is idle a lot of the time and it seems that if they wanted to have an early and late Mopar show they certainly could.
I guess with the way the track is struggling it all comes down to the bottom line - money. I would hate to see the Mega-Mopar event be a bust cause then perhaps it wouldn't be back next year or any Mopar event at all for that matter and that would be a shame. But I understand loyalty and Josh, whoever he is, is fortunate to have a bunch of supporters like he does.
