Led Zeppelin's new CD
« on: November 25, 2012 - 09:00:06 PM »
OMG is it great. I don't know how many LZ fans here but I just picked up the new CD. It's called Celebration Day. JB's son is playing drums and all I can say is WOW! It's well worth the money at lease I think so. It was so good to here them play again. I wish I could of been in London when they recorded this live double album.

It's awesome!  I saw it in the theatres last month and have the CD/DVD set.  Jason Bonham did a great job.

No new tunes. It was a reunion show they did about 5 years ago in memory of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of atlantic records.

Our local morning radio Station played quite a bit, it sounded so good I couldn't believe it.

I gotta check this out.

FWIW...

I was at the last N. America Led Zep tour.
Day on the Green Summer 1976. 30-50 ft. from center stage.

Jimmy Page's Violin bow on Guitar solo Blew my ear out.
I'm partially deaf now in one ear from that and other numerous ear other related problems compounded.

I can still picture that day.

That sounds (no pun implied) fabulous! Mind my asking where and how much? Mike, that is a memory that I'd also lose some hearing to have. One of my big regrets is never seeing them live; I'm just envious.  :(

I was at the July 24th show. Billy Graham came out when the show was delayed for quite some time wearing a raincoat and rain hat. He announced the show was being delayed. The crowd went into a frenzy hurling things at him onto the stage. 3 hours later, Led Zep began.

As much as I love LZ, i can't get into this Live LP.

As important to the sound of LZ as Page's guitar and Bonham's drums were - Plant's voice was equally so. He just doesn't have the same voice he did back then and I can't get into it. As great as it is to hear them again, it sounds like a cover band.

"The Song Remains the Same" LP is all the live Led Zep I need - though "Celebration Day" does have 1 thing over "Remains the Same" ... "Ramble On". Hands down my favourite LZ song..

Yeah, but what a disappointment! I stayed up and suffered through Letterman's self congratulatory drivel. hoping the lads would play something; only to watch JPJ's taking the piss out of Letterman in a 5 minute segment! You'd think Letterman would have had enough wit to do some research and ask cogent questions, at least. Oh well, at least Plant and I have the same understanding of a "matinee".  :naughty:
