I am putting this 72 Challenger together for my daughter. I was hoping to have it done a long time ago but life gets in the way sometimes. I bought a pretty nice 72 body with a ton of extra parts but it was missing the dash and vin tag. I found this really rough body and put it together using the nice 72 as a doner car. This car was rough, way worse than I had planned on getting but I liked the build date, 7/19/71. My daughter was born 7/19/93. I finally got the body and paint done a few month ago and when I got it home and started to put the car together I realized that they did a horrible job. I worked with it as long as I could until finally I got frustrated. I tore the car back apart and its at the media blasters right now getting completly stripped. I bought new AMD quarter panels and I'm starting over. What a huge waste of time and money this paint job was.

cant tell from the pics what the problems are?  I can see panels need to be hung correctly, but I guess thats not the problem....?

Welcome!  Your daughter is a lucky girl, i would have killed for a challenger at her age, if I may ask, why a blower for a 19 year old?  Don't get me wrong, it's badd ass, just curious, I remember the way me and my friends drove at her age hahaha

I was wondering the same thing...and what your plans are to make it fit under the hood. that thing looks mighty tall

The quarters werent hung correctly, the body lines werent even close. Even though all the sheetmetal was good, they basically skimmed most of the car in bondo and you can see the 80 grit sand marks in some of it. The seam along the right rear side window already cracked, and they painted over dirt and weatherstripping glue, some of it was already coming off.
 As far as the blower, I wanted under the hood to be as high impact as the color. Now that the cars completion date is moved I am thinking of replacing the rotating assembly with a stroker kit. Currently its a 360 with W2 heads. automatic transmission, 3:91 posi, and a real nice ceramic coated TTI exhaust system. I'm not worried about her driving, She drives like an old lady. I'm concerned about the hood. I bought a brand new AMD hood before I did the motor. I don't think it will fit. I'm thinking of a T/A hood, anyone got one they want to trade?

YUP,your gonna have to go with a T/A HOOD for sure.the factory flat OR rally will not work with a blower.my buddy has a blower on his 70 chally S/B AND RUNS A t/a hood.even with that,your gonna have to fab a air cleaner for it.that was a couple of years ago though,maybe some one has started to make them to fit the aplication above by now.

Welcome to the site and sorry to hear about your ordeal with the body shop. I hope the re-do goes better. Your daughter's a lucky girl, but I'd STILL pull a couple of the plug wires off if you stroke it.
