Any idea what this is?
« on: December 08, 2012 - 12:55:55 PM »
The reverse light harness on my car seemed to be a little messed up.  One end was completely wrapped in electrical tape.  So I bought a new repop harness and started removing the old one.  Turns out, for some reason this harness was in between the transmission and the stock 4 speed harness.

As you can see each end has 3 connectors, but my transmission only has 2.  On the end without a connector, the 3rd wire was bent down and taped to the other wires.  I ended up just removing this and connecting the correct original harness back to the transmission.  Everything is working great.  Any idea what this would have been for?

:iagree:  looks like a NSA switch to me? Neutral safety switch for an automatic. Mine didn't have those brass connectors though?  But then again I just peeled off enough tape to solder in a new plug like you show?
Maybe it was a factory boo boo if yours originally came with a 4 speed?

Way the male end was all wrapped up in electrical tape, makes me think it was added by a previous owner.  I'm just not sure why they would bother as the stock 4 speed harness is there and was pretty simple to hook up  Untangling the automatic harness took longer than reconnecting the 4 speed harness.

So anyone need an automatic harness? :)
