how to remove driver's seat
« on: December 10, 2012 - 01:26:35 AM »
My driver's seat has some splits in the seams.  Only the seat...not the back rest.

How do I remove the bucket seat so I can take it to the uhpostery guy.

Step by step would be great for this old fart.....thanks!

Look underneath for four 1/2 nuts. Remove them and you're done.

To remove the seat back, there are two bolts hidden under the hinge covers.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

That's where Ford got it right.  The bolts on my 06 Mustang are inside car.
No need to crawl under car to remove the seat.

You'll need a deep socket (1/2 inch), the studs are pretty long.

Unfortunately, you have to remove the seat from the car, and separate the seatback from the bottom.

Yep that's them. On mine those plates stayed on the car.

No, just awkward lining the bolts up to drop the seat in.
Usually have to wiggle the seat around until it drops in place.

They are a lot easier to handle if you separate the top and bottom of the seats.

If fold the seat back forward and tie it to the seat with a small rope to make it easier to handle while removing from the car.  You can reach the four bolts just by laying on the floor beside the car.

What's  involved in seperating the seat tops from the bottoms?

Out is easier than in ! My floor panel kinda had some spring to it after the seat came out but when I put the seat back in it tightened everything back up.   :icon16:
