I sold my 72 Challenger in 1982 and after 30 years picked up my 73 last Friday. I gave it a quick wash/wax and it looks great next to my 2012 SRT8 YJ. Car is an older restoration, not number matching (318 gone), straight body and no rust/bondo where I can see. Original 318 cid with factory Rallye package and suregrip and automatic, still has the owner manual and 3/5 of the original build sheet. Previous owner that restored the car installed a 340 with an Eldebrock four barrel. Car seems running strong but will need some TLC, tuning. First order of business is to replace the ignition lock (rotates and will not return after start). I search the forums on past threads and got some idea how to go about this. However, all the illustration pictures had been removed (old posts). Any pointer will be appreciated. Also looking forward to do more on the car and enjoy chatting on this site.

Sorry. The picture files were too big. Have to wait to get home after work and it was a crazy day. Everyone trying to get things done before the holiday. Anyway, I just got the car last Friday so not too many pictures taken. Hope this will do.

PS. I am at Millbrae CA. For some of you that don't know, it is right off SFO, I hear the planes every day.

Thanks all. My to do list (mostly wish list) in priority.

1. Go to DMV to transfer title and renew registration (done this morning, ripped off by the State of CA on fees and taxes, yike)
2. Oil, transmission oil and differential gear oil change.
3. Fix my ingintion lock. Check why horn is not working.
4. Replace worn heater, radiator hoses (small leak at water pump, not sure if hose or pump), change coolant
5. Replace rear seat cover due to split seams in a few places.
6. Get two new front seats, clean some surface rust on floor pans and repalce interior carpets.
7. Thinking of removing the air conditioning system but will save all the hardwares.
8. Replace sparkplugs, caps and rotors, may be sparkplug wires as well. Tune carbureator and check timing as needed.
9. New set of wheels and tires, thinking something like 17" American Racing Wheels
9. Replace rear leaf springs (sagging a bit). Thinking Hotchiks
10. TTI headers and 2.5" dual exhaust system
11. Replace power steering gear box with a Firm Feel Stage II unit and fiz power sttering pump leak (minor)
12. Four wheel disc upgrade with Wilwood Superlite set.
13. New Bilstein or Koni shocks and complete the rest with Hotchkis TVS kit.

I am sure the list will change with more wishes as time goes by, as funds is available and time permitting. It is going to be a lot of fun. This weekend will be installing the front and back suspension braces on my YJ so work on the 73 will have to wait.

Just did some surveys, looks like in order to remove the AC and convert the car to non-AC requires a change of the water pump and crank pullies, about $150 worth just for that. Have anyone don't that or am I missing other parts still (besides new belts)?

PS, my ignition/door lock set arrived yesterday (superfast service), waiting for the puller and bunch of other stuffs ordered on another site. Can you guys tell I am very excited to get my hands into her?

Hard thing to find is the NON-AC vent which I just recently found.

Why get rid of the AC vents? Make it to match factory non-AC cars? Can I keep the AC vents and the control panel as is and just use the heating function after AC compressor/condenser removal? Most likely I will leave the evaporator in place as well and cap the pipe connections at the firewall with some plastic caps. I just want get rid of the drag on the engine, get more space to work on the engine and keep the engine bay cleaner looking. If it gets hot, I will crank down the windows.

I did the full conversion from an A/C car to making it non A/C. It was a ton of work.
Main reason why I did it because I'm putting a real 71' Hemi in. Otherwise had I gone 440, I would've left it.
