    Has anyone come across a security system or device that will give us more peace of mind when traveling with our "C's. "(cherished challengers/cudas)?      I've read a bit about "LoJack" and other systems, but with current GPS and other cell technology, one would think there should be a fairly low cost option available... 

    Anyone?

    We had a guy from LoJack talk at a club meeting.  They have a clssic car discount going which sounded pretty good (at least out here in Los Angeles).  I'm tempted...

    How would a flip down license plate keep your car from being stolen?

    It would primarily be used at your local car show.  Thieves an use the license number to found where you live; locating the car.

    When I did car shows a lot years ago I saw something like that.  Some shady looking dude with a camera ran up to my car and snapped a pic of my vin and license plate then ran off in a hurry after he noticed I was watching him.  Fortunately the car resided somewhere other than stated on the registration at that time.

    ToredCuda - Thanks.   Both of those are what I was thinking about.   While the units are fairly reasonable,  I'm not too excited about monthly fees; but they may get more affordable as this technology continues to evolve.   Thanks!

    The only downside to GPS trackers is that if there is no signal like say inside a truck or inside a chopshop you will never find your car again. That's why I decided to go the RF way recently.

    I was actually going to build my own GPS tracker but found it's really not the route I wanted to go. If you are interested you can go over to the arduino board and find out all about building one.

    Good points , I never thought of that. Lojack coverage is not that great up here in Canada. With current technology its just a matter of time till someone comes up with a better system.

    For now I'll have to rely on Samuel Colt and John Browning....
